    The Maintenance Planner assists with the development of a reliable maintenance strategy based on preventive and predictive maintenance systems. The Planner will work directly with the Plant Engineer/Maintenance Superintendent’s in building a reliable SAP CMMS system and maintenance team.  In addition, the Planner will work independently and with other plant personnel to develop preventative, predictive and routine maintenance tasks.  All tasks will be performed while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the company. 

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities and tasks are written as follows:

    • Plans all maintenance with special attention to regulatory requirements that may apply, e.g. OSHA rules, EPA regulations, USDA requirements, state and local environmental regulations. Ensures all safety requirements are clearly defined in all maintenance planning.
    • Gather components and order parts allowing repairs and maintenance to be done correctly, accurately, safely, quickly and without interruption during execution. Parts Kitting.
    • Coordinate with maintenance management team new notifications and which work is ready to schedule. Usually once a week (planning meeting).
    • Coordinate with Production weekly for times and methods to access plant equipment, so repairs and maintenance can be done safely and correctly (scheduling meeting).
    • Follow-up the following week on work completed, rescheduled and labor utilization.
    • Gather information needed for key performance indicators (KPI’s).
    • Develop reports on equipment health, repetitive issues, increased cost, maintainability and top reliability issues.
    • Plan repairs that return components and equipment to design reliability and proper operating condition, with minimal production disruption (planned work orders generated from PM’s).
    • Equipment and repair parts data entry and management. The creation of equipment bill of materials (BOMs) improves the work flow process.
    • Predictive and preventative maintenance review and scheduling. All Predictive PM’s need to be reviewed annually to ensure S.E.T. (specific, effective and timely processes are being conducted).
    • Maintain SAP CMMS to ensure equipment information, locations, costs and repairs are being correctly entered.
    • Assist other maintenance personnel with understanding equipment repairs and research.
    • Assign work order repairs, inspections and adjustments to the correct area for scheduling assignment by the supervisors.
    • Work directly with production personnel in reviewing work notifications and to isolate and repair repetitive equipment/facility problems.
    • Develop and update job procedures and tasks for planned and PM activities.
    • Participates in plant safety, health and environmental programs as maintenance representative.
    • Knowledge of GMP’s, USDA guidelines, purchasing practices and cost management.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 5+ years of plant maintenance experience, required.
    • Bachelor’s degree, preferred.
    • Two years of experience in the supervision of day-to-day preventive and corrective maintenance.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Working knowledge of basic computer skills, Internet and Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
    • Project management software experience is preferred.
    • Knowledge of the CMMS system, preferred.
    • Strong problem-solving skills.

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    • Provides leadership and guidance to employees in the Maintenance Department.
    • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
    • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and assisting in providing appropriate resolutions.

    • The plant environment will include wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold and heat (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals.
    • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when in the production area.
