    This position provides business analysis and systems support to promote the strategy, management and governance of master data including the integration of data ownership in business processes across the Smithfield enterprise.


    • Executes master data creation and maintenance in accordance with established standard operating procedures, templates/mapping documents, service level objectives, and project plans. Completes/processes SAP loads utilizing data workflow tools, load templates and corresponding programs, mass change transactions, and/or direct entry depending on the situation. Includes some evening/weekend work to minimize impact to the business.
    • Enforces gatekeeper processes requiring appropriate data and approvals to ensure SOX compliance. Upholds master data standards by validating/normalizing/cleansing data to ensure adherence to technical and business rules, naming conventions, abbreviations, etc. Runs error reports and/or pulls data to identify inconsistencies and load corrections. Performs periodic data audits. Searches for methods to continuously improve data accuracy/consistency.
    • Functions as a master data knowledge resource by helping the business understand master data and the data workflow tools used to request adds/changes. Provides knowledge and guidance on data structure and dependencies. Troubleshoots data issues engaging the business and technical teams as needed to reach resolution. Provides business and third parties such as customers, warehouses, and consultants with ad hoc reporting as directed.
    • Utilizes PMDM and 1WorldSync to publish detailed item data to our customers. Ensures changes made to items are reflected in the corresponding publications.
    • Works with the business and technical teams to understand rules and implement data setup for new requirements due to system enhancements, process improvements, and/or business rule changes. Provides support for testing and implementation.
    • Maintains logs/shared LAN files to document master data activity for projects, status reports, and SOX compliance. Creates/maintains standard operating procedures, user request forms, and other documentation to promote data consistency.
    • Provides cross-training/shares knowledge with teammates to build skills across the master data team. Continuously improves knowledge of SAP master data to better understand how data elements are used by various modules (SD, MM, PP, etc.) both technically and by the business.

    • Bachelor’s degree from regionally accredited four-year college or university and 5+ years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
    • Advanced user of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
    • SAP, DSP (Data Stewardship Platform), and 1WorldSync experience, preferred.
    • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
    • Highest level of accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and a strong work ethic.
