  • Overview

    The Demand Planning Manager is accountable for leading all Demand Planning aspects for a particular Channel (Retail, Foodservice or Deli). This includes ensuring that forecasting execution processes are in place to allow our company to provide consistent, reliable service throughout the supply chain. The Demand Planning Manager is accountable for meeting/exceeding the highest level of forecasting activities through coaching and mentoring their Demand Planning staff.


    • Recognized as internal expert to business customers in the area of demand planning
    • Strong interpersonal skills are essential to effectively interact with all teams, areas and levels of business affecting the forecast process
    • Leadership skills include: ability to take initiative; the ability to influence others and build relationships across multiple functional leaders; balance analytical skills with collaboration and strong business acumen
    • Track and report performance metrics (sku/DC error, etc.) analyze forecast performance and drive year over year improvements in accuracy through process improvements (customer level forecasting, demand shaping techniques, etc.) Identify and report on root cause and corrective actions
    • Ability to drive action and influence decision making at all levels of the organization
    • Ability to solve problems and manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
    • Ability to differentiate areas of responsibility and when to elevate to appropriate level of organization for effective/efficient decision making
    • Self-motivated, takes initiative; super follow-up
    • Strong problem-solving abilities as well as numeric and analytical skills required. Ensure discrepancies are identified and reconciled prior to sharing with stakeholders
    • Validate SKU forecast rollup by sales planning and production planning categories to reconcile gaps to plan (annual/historical)
    • Provide 52 week forecasts to supply planners for production capacity reviews
    • Provide annual forecast to FP&A for budgeting purposes
    • Manage the SO&P process through oversight of the Demand Planning team in a complex matrix organization
    • Effectively and proactively communicate any business critical concerns to senior leadership for prompt mitigation and reconciliation
    • Proactively alert key stakeholders to negative or positive demand trends/by customer
    • Ensure participation in all consensus meeting’s and decks are submitted 24 hours in advance
    • This individual is accountable for forecasts and forecast performance for the channel they own
    • Aligns and Engages the Team in the Vision: Provides clarity to each team member on their role in achieving the vision, strategy, and goals.
    • Embraces and Initiates Change: Distinguishes what to preserve and what to change. Has the courage to initiate and lead the changes that drive success.
    • Work with direct report in establishing new and inventive ways to forecast.
    • Lead and support continuous professional development.
    • Promote driving for results to all team members.
    • Provide training opportunities to increase forecasting functions, processes and accountabilities.
    • This individual is responsible for the Performance Management Process and Personal Development processes for his/her group
    • Convey and set a positive example for employees
    • Build team of diverse individuals who work independently to achieve business objectives, promoting collaboration, coordination, and teamwork
    • Provide ongoing (one-on-one) feedback and coaching on progress against accountabilities
    • Continually review team members workload, determining what can be stopped or streamlined
    • Ensure team members have sufficient reporting, tools to perform their jobs and to meet goals and deadlines
    • Candidate needs to be able to promote a culture of collaboration and teamwork across the organization and possess the ability to work across multiple teams

    • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university and 5+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
    • Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in a position of leadership to include team development and management, required.
    • Experience with forecasting software, preferred.
    • Experience with formal sales and operations planning (S&OP) processes, a plus.
    • Knowledge of SAP, business intelligence (BI) and Logility, a plus.
    • Microsoft Office /Suite – strong EXCEL skills are critical.
    • Requires strong skills in spreadsheet, database management and forecasting/inventory management experience.
    • Aptitude to collaborate with cross functional teams in a complex matrix organization to promote productivity and enhance supply chain overall functions required
    • Work with internal and external customers with job levels ranging from entry level up to the Sr Vice President.
    • Strong analytical, organizational, decision making, and presentation skills, required.
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, required.
    • Strong oral, written, verbal communication and strong mathematical aptitude, required.
    • Highly organized, detail-oriented and excellent customer service skills necessary.
    • Ability to multi-task and work independently.
    • Ability to work extended hours.


    Supervisory Responsibilities

    This position will supervise a team of Demand Planners.
