  • Overview

    Plans and establishes production schedules for all products processed at the plant.  Monitors material inventories, tracks progress of production and reviews factors that affect schedules and makes necessary modifications to schedules. Issues orders to the appropriate production departments when revisions are made to the schedule.




    • Schedules production areas based on products to be processed to cover sales orders and the movement of work force on a daily and/or weekly basis.
    • Forecasts the raw materials requirements needed to maintain inventories and keep the plant running efficiently. 
    • Manages the rotation of raw materials and work in process inventories to ensure product dates remain in date specifications and inventories are balanced and flowing effectively through the process.
    • Works with Accounting and project manager on  new products
    • Meets sales orders by working with Supply Planning to spread a weekly and daily schedule for raw manufacturing and packaging departments
    • Utilizes the SAP Production Planning module, Material Management module, and Sales Distribution module to determine the master production schedule for the plant. 
    • Creates and distributes the schedule to Production Supervisors to ensure production needs are met. 
    • Maintains the SAP system at the plant.
    • Responsible for publishing daily and weekly schedule attainment and adherence report to the operations and supply planning teams
    • Chairs daily and weekly meeting with production supervision to communicate priorities, understand opportunities, and communicate weekly and daily schedule attainment and adherence performance.

    • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university in Agriculture, Business, Marketing or related field and 3+ years’ experience in the Meat or Food Industry in such fields as Production, Plant Supervision; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
    • Experience in the Meat or Food Industry, preferred.
    • Excellent working knowledge of SAP and the modules Production Planning, Material Management and Sales Distribution.
    • Excellent analytical, organizational and technical skills.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, Internet and Order processing software.
    • Ability to forecast, act quickly and accurately.
    • Good communication skills, written and verbal.
    • May be required to work long hours and weekends.

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of an Associate Production Scheduler.
    • Carries out managerial/supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
    • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    • The plant environment will include wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold and heat (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals.

    • Noise level in the work environment is usually loud when in the production area.

    • Must be able to work in cramped spaces and in poor lighting and ventilation.
