  • Overview

    The Operator is responsible for cutting meat per specific specifications using a Whizard Knife.

    Responsibilities

    • Using a Whizard knife trim meat per specific.
    • Cut points off Briskets using a knife
    • Trim Briskets with knife following trim specifications.
    • Open packed meat products with hand tools.
    • The Operator needs to be properly trained in the Standard Operating Procedures in accordance with Mohawk’s Safety Rules and Regulations in order to perform this Operation.
    • The Operator must be aware of all the potential hazards of the job. It is important that the Operator wears Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
    • Practicing Good Manufacturing Practices.
    • Checking all ingredients for foreign materials.
    • Communicating with the Lead Operator for any problems encountered.
    • Communicating with leadership of any changes that may have occurred.
    • Notifying supervisors or maintenance of any safety or machine issues.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    May require a high school diploma or its equivalent and 1 to 2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job

     

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general instructions.

     

    REASONING ABILITY

     Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Typically reports to a supervisor/manager.

    The noise level in the work environment is medium.  When the employee is required to perform duties in the production area, the employee will be continuously exposed to temperatures ranging from 35 – 90 degrees.  The noise level in the work environment is sufficient to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.  Personal Protective Equipment is required.
