  • Overview

    Plans and conducts activities concerns with the quality assurance of product processes and materials by performing the following duties.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities and tasks are written as follows:

    1. Plans and conducts the analysis, inspection, test, and/or integration to assure the quality of the product.
    2. Conduct quality audits in production floors.
    3. Performs activities related to microbiology programs.
    4. Performs process audits for verification of compliance to programs and requirements from Smithfield.
    5. Conducts activities related to SSOP, sanitation performance standards, GMP audits, LOTO, etc.
    6. Ability to perform activities on all plant levels (5th floor to basement) and act independently
    7. Observe compliance and coach others regarding plant safety and food safety policies.
    8. Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with company policies and procedures.
    9. Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management.
    10. Prepares report to communicate involvement and results of quality assurance activities.
    11. Comply with all Personnel, Safety, Food Safety, and company policies and procedures, including production standards.

    Qualifications

    • Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
    • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
    • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of manufacturing software, spreadsheet software, word processing software, and Powis Controls.
