  • Overview

    Packaging production line machine operator performs a variety of functions including but not limited to the operation of high speed packaging equipment, completion of daily production and/or QA paperwork. Ensures work is completed in a safe manner and within the quality parameters established. This position requires problem solving and leadership responsibilities  

    Responsibilities

    • Sets up machine for production run by installing safety guards, sets code dates, have boxes and labels ready, sets up tape machine, installs film etc.
    • Inspects equipment for safety to ensure all positions can be performed safely
    • Configures machine to product specifications
    • Operates, troubleshoots and makes minor mechanical adjustments and repairs to equipment
    • Must be able to read production schedule
    • Adjusts product weight, size and piece count throughout the day
    • Checks and sets up metal detector every two hours
    • Makes boxes when needed
    • Responsible for performing Food Safety and QA checks on paper and/or Electronic Device hourly
    • Retools equipment during change overs
    • Additional essential functions may be applicable to specific jobs

    • Knowledge and experience in Meat Industry is preferred, but not required
    • Must possess problem solving skills and leadership qualities
    • Competent and trustworthy to comply with federal inspection programs and company safety and health policies.
    • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
    • Be available to work scheduled hours, which may include mandatory overtime, depending upon production demands.
    • Basic Computer Knowledge
    • Must be able to speak, read and write English
    • Being able to understand and follow oral and written instruction from supervisors and designated staff

    • Continuous standing in one location for long periods (up to 2-3 hours before break)

    • Climbing or moving ladders, steps, stairwells and platforms
    • Carrying, lifting, lowering, pushing, pulling of heavy and or awkward objects or loads.

    • Pushing or pulling of heavy roller carts, bins, or transport containers.
    • Frequent static and/or awkward work postures with neck and spine flexion while grasping, pinching, pulling, lifting, extending, flexing the hands and arms.

    • Frequent contact with animal fats
