    The position summary states the general nature and purpose of the job. Overall accountabilities are defined in this section.


    Plans and establishes production schedules for all products processed at the plant.  Monitors material inventories, tracks progress of production and reviews factors that affect schedules and makes necessary modifications to schedules. Issues orders to the appropriate production departments when revisions are made to the schedule.




    Responsibilities and tasks are written as follows:

    1. Schedules production areas based on products to be processed to cover sales orders and the movement of work force on a daily and/or weekly basis.
    2. Forecasts the fresh pork raw materials needed to maintain inventories and keep the plant running efficiently. 
    3. Manages the rotation of raw materials and finished products to keep them out of the freezer, and to ensure product dates remain in spec.  
    4. Works with Accounting on new products to be produced and maintains accurate inventories.
    5. Reviews the USDA close of product daily. Communicates the raw materials, their grades, and the amount that needs to be sold or purchased to Product Managers.
    6. Meets sales orders by maintaining correct inventories for production at the plant for efficiency and yields.
    7. Utilizes the SAP Production Planning module, Material Management module, and Sales Distribution module to determine the master production schedule for the plant. 
    8. Creates and distributes the schedule to Production Supervisors to ensure production needs are met. 
    9. Maintains the SAP system at the plant.
    10. Coordinates daily sales orders, rotation of finished products, stock transfers, incoming raw material, and inventories with the Shipping department to ensure customer satisfaction.

    • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university in Agriculture, Business, Marketing or related field and 3+ years’ experience in the Meat or Food Industry in such fields as Production, Plant Supervision; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
    • Excellent working knowledge of SAP and the modules Production Planning, Material Management and Sales Distribution.
    • Excellent analytical, organizational and technical skills.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, Internet and Order processing software.
    • Ability to forecast, act quickly and accurately.
    • Good communication skills, written and verbal.
    • May be required to work long hours and weekends.

    • The plant environment will include wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold and heat (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals.

    • Noise level in the work environment is usually loud when in the production area.

    • Must be able to work in cramped spaces and in poor lighting and ventilation.
