    The position summary states the general nature and purpose of the job.  Overall accountabilities are defined in this section.


    This position is responsible for overseeing the quality of export products produced at the Vernon CA facility.  Responsibilities include working with QA, operations, and product management to ensure the product is produced to the specification; and monitoring the quality systems and programs in place specifically for export products.  Other responsibilities include hosting export customer visitors to the plant and working with customers and product managers customers to develop and refine product specifications.  Person must have good communication skills both written and oral and capable of representing the company well with customers.




    Responsibilities and tasks are written as follows:

    • Conduct routine product audit correlations and product reviews with plant management, QA and product management.
    • Investigate all export related quality complaints and assist in drafting investigation responses.
    • Conduct verification audits of cold chain management, labeling, rework control and other programs identified as critical to export product quality.
    • Audit audits of export product in cold storage facilities to include label verification, box performance, pallet condition, box integrity and export document accuracy.
    • Participate in shelf life troubleshooting projects as necessary.
    • Assist with customer tours and product correlations.
    • Work with customers and product management to set up new products and packaging based on customer expectations.
    • Coordinate with product management to address conflicts identified between product expectations and the documented product specification must be addressed and updated in the spec and/or audit criteria.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university and 3+ years’ relevant experience, required.
    • Excellent understanding of the different pork cuts and main defects associated with each piece.
    • Ability to understand specs and audits as they relate to the customer expectations.
    • Proficient with work measurement concepts, practices, and procedures within the Meat Industry.
    • Ability to use exposure-monitoring, equipment, interpret and communicate results.
    • Strong interpersonal, technical and presentation skills required.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Suite and able to take sales quality photos.
    • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
    • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
    • May be required to work long hours and weekends as department and plant operations demand.

    • The plant environment will include wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold and heat (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals.
    • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when in the production area.
