    The position summary states the general nature and purpose of the job. Overall accountabilities are defined in this section.

     

    Performs repairs and troubleshooting on food processing equipment to include, but not limited to: stuffers, vacuum pumps, mixers, grinders, packaging machinery, conveyors, hydraulic units, multivacs, and ovens.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities and tasks are written as follows:

    1. Installs replacement belts, filters, gears, chains and valves.
    2. Rebuilds valves, pumps and gearboxes.
    3. Troubleshoots pneumatic, electric and hydraulic machine problems and makes necessary repairs.
    4. Performs repairs to machines involving machine guarding, bolt replacement and breakdowns due to mechanical wear.
    5. Welds machine components.
    6. Performs preventive maintenance tasks such as lubricating parts, drives chains, etc.
    7. Handles installations, including hooking up air, water, gas and the alignment and leveling of equipment.
    8. Acts as a lead by training, mentoring and providing guidance to less experienced and hourly Maintenance employees.

    Qualifications

    • Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical or related field preferred. Possess a minimum of two (2) years of general maintenance, construction or specialized maintenance experience. Post secondary education may substitute on a year to year basis for experience at the Plant Engineer’s discretion.
    • Possess good mechanical skills, including repair of gearboxes, bearings, etc.
    • Knowledge of AC/DC controls and power electricity
    • Knowledge of Hydraulic, Pneumatic, and Piping Systems.
    • Experience in Fabrication and tig welding.
    • Ammonia refrigeration experience preferred.
    • Possess a high school diploma or GED. Tech school, seminars, in-house training, on-the-job training and vendor training will also be considered.
    • Ability to sketch, read, and understand technical drawings and layouts.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to seventy-five pounds or more and regularly lift and/or move up to fifty pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

     

    An individual in this position will be exposed to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions when performing duties. Indoors, an individual will be exposed to cold environments ranging from 18 – 45 deg F or hot environments exceeding 100 deg F.
