  • Overview

    The Operator is responsible for making sure that all areas outside the Plant area are kept clean at all times. The primary responsibility of the Sanitation Team Member is Housekeeping outside the plant.

    Responsibilities

    • Practicing Good Manufacturing Practices.
    • The Sanitation Operator needs to be properly trained in the Standard Operating Procedures in accordance with Smithfield’s Safety Rules and Regulations in order to perform this Operation.
    • The Operator must be aware of all the potential hazards of the job. It is important that the Operator wears Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
    • Maintaining the cleanliness of all the outside of the Plant.
    • Communicating with leadership of any changes that may have occurred.
    • Bring supplies from the warehouse to production during shift.
    • Return and put away unused supplies.
    • Dry clean up throughout the plant during operations.
    • Rinse and sanitize all production lines before or after break and lunch.
    • Maintain locker room and lunch room clean throughout the shift.
    • Must be able to safely operate a pallet jack & forklift (Company will provide training.)

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    May require a high school diploma or its equivalent and 1 to 2 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job

     

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general instructions.

     

    REASONING ABILITY

     Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Typically reports to a supervisor/manager.

     

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    Forklift Certified.

    The noise level in the work environment is medium.  When the employee is required to perform duties in the production area, the employee will be continuously exposed to temperatures ranging from 35 – 90 degrees.  The noise level in the work environment is sufficient to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.  Personal Protective Equipment is required.
