  • Overview

    The Strategic Sourcing Analyst will be responsible for developing and conducting sourcing projects including but not limited to; RFP data management, Data Analysis, Spend Reporting, Market Analysis, Bid Analysis and supporting the category management team in day to day tasks.


    1. Data Collection: Collects technical specifications and commercial specifications, including buyer info, bid item, volume, supplier management, pricing.
    2. Supplier Research & Outreach: Informs current suppliers about upcoming bids (e.g., e-mail letter and / or direct contact).  Starts supplier outreach (both current and new suppliers); submits list of potentially interested new suppliers and RFI for approval; manages the signoff list of potential suppliers for participation and RFI; Sends RFI request to targeted suppliers.
    3. RFQ Development & Publication: Sends 1st RFQ (Request for Quotation) Draft and Lotting Structure to team for feedback on RFQ Draft; Finalizes RFQ (RFQ document, Cost Breakdown document, Lotting, Bid Parameters, etc.); Manages the signoff process and publishes.
    4. Qualifying Round: Runs Qualifying Round and RFI Submitted by Suppliers; Finalizes Negotiation Strategy and Supplier Participation
    5. RFQ Update: Publishes RFQ Updates, if required
    6. Post-bid Analysis & Award: Collects post-bid data, analysis and award
    7. Spend Reporting: Generates detailed spend reports by sourcing category to be published to senior leadership
    8. General Market Analysis: Provides monthly/weekly input cost market reports pertaining to specific category
    9. Rebate Reconciliation/Pricing Updates:  validates and reconciles quarterly rebate amounts via SAP data
    10. Travels to supplier facilities as well as Smithfield production facilities to gain education on production processes.

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field and 2+ years’ experience in analytical field and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Sourcing experience, preferred.
    • Demonstrated experience with SAP and Microsoft Office Suite, emphasis on Excel.
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
    • Proven problem solving and decision making skills, analytical and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
    • Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time.
