    Smithfield Foods Packaged Meats Division is looking for a temporary employee to assist with the planning and execution of summer promotional events. This temporary position will last about 3 months, May/June through August.

    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities and tasks are written as follows:

    1. Preparing sampling vehicle with needed supplies
    2. Getting sampling area ready for event
      • Placing up tents
      • Grilling/heating products
      • Interacting with consumers as a brand ambassador with Smithfield brand samples
      • Handing out coupons
    3. Sampling Smithfield products at stores (Kroger, Meijer and other area special events)

    Qualifications

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions. 

    • High School Diploma and completion of (minimum) three years college coursework in Marketing, or closely related field, from a regionally accredited college or university. This position is targeted at current college students.
    • Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills. Must be flexible with an ability to multi-task in an ever changing environment.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Outstanding communication skills; experience coordinating groups for special events would be helpful.
    • Travel up to 10% of the time may be required.
