Overview

The Customer Service Representative performs all customer service activities including but not limited to inquiries, processing orders, and handling special service requests and complaints, in a prompt, courteous, and effective manner.

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely and accurate information to incoming customer order status and product knowledge requests.
  • Process and validate customer orders/changes according to established department policies and procedures.
  • Process orders and verify inbound receipts for accuracy. Run stock reports to check for product availability and accuracy of inventory records.
  • Assure proper and timely invoicing of accounts and verify computer generated invoices.
  • Must address customer issues and ensure effective and long-term problem resolution.
  • Acts as liaison between external and internal customers. This is to include, but not limited to corporate customer service, transportation, and inventory.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 2+ years of experience in customer service or related field and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Logistics or Finance from a regionally accredited four-year college or university, preferred. 
  • Experience in distribution is highly preferred.
  • Previous SAP experience a plus
  • Proficient in PC skills (Excel, Work, PowerPoint)
  • Strong communication skills with excellent interpersonal skills both in written and verbal correspondence.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.

Work Environment

  • The majority of the time is spent in an office setting outside of the distribution center.  The DC environment will include extreme cold and heat (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical equipment such as forklifts/hi-lifts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when in the loading areas.
