The Transportation Appointment Scheduler is responsible for the effective and efficient accomplishment of work within his/her realm of transportation scheduling/planning, control and management. Through cross-functional activities with customer service, production planning, inventory control and accounting, the transportation scheduler/planner manages inbound and outbound shipments for all businesses. Additionally, the transportation scheduler/planner is responsible for actively troubleshooting any transactional, rate or other issue that might develop through the course of his/her work. All of this is done to ensure the on-time deliveries and receipts.

 

Due to the nature of our business, this job periodically requires after-hours, weekend and sometimes holiday work. All efforts will be made to create the best work/life balance possible.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities and tasks are written as follows:

  1. Responsible for utilizing the TMS to tender inbound customer pick-ups, outbound delivered and stock transfer orders based on lane assignments for all businesses
  2. Responsible for monitoring and managing the TMS to ensure tenders are accepted and confirmed
  3. Responsible for monitoring and managing the TMS to ensure changes/updates are reflected accurately
  4. Responsible for checking in outbound and STO shipments in SAP
  5. Responsible for resolving check in related idoc errors in SAP
  6. Responsible for confirming ready dates and times for all outbound loads
  7. Responsible for communicating any transportation related delays or changes
  8. Responsible on as an needed basis to assist with the scheduling of inbound and outbound dock appointments with carriers
  9. Responsible for creating and distributing ad hoc reporting on an as needed basis

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions. 

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or equivalent preferred (Relevant work experience can be used in lieu of degree)
  • Previous Transportation Planning/Logistics Scheduling experience preferred
  • Previous experience in TMS and/or SAP preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and critical thinking capabilities preferred
  • Self-starter, demonstrates initiatives and commitment, able to adapt quickly, works well under pressure and can be a solid team member.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables), MS Access and PowerPoint.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
