Overview

This position is responsible for assisting with execution of all maintenance work control processes by coordinating work priority and assisting with development of job plans.  Project Technician is also responsible for supporting PSM assurance projects.  Works with the Maintenance Supervisor & Manager to assign work control plans to the appropriate Supervisor for execution by the hourly maintenance staff.  Communicating with all members of the maintenance team including members of the operations team will be necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Works as the principle contact person between maintenance and operations and other support departments to assure timely, efficient, and quality service.
  • Assists with long-range as well as short-range planning.
  • Assists with development and maintenance of planned and predictive maintenance procedures and routes as required. 
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all PSM regulations.
  • Assists in preparing PSM documents such as action item reports and PSM activities.
  • Assists with PSM and SAP training for the maintenance staff.  
  • Prioritizes all planned work orders as well as determining scope of activities.
  • Reviews completed work orders for completeness and accuracy, closes work orders when necessary.
  • Generates reports to keep the maintenance team informed of work progress and future work schedules.
  • Assists the Maintenance Supervisor to produce a weekly maintenance work schedule as well as a projected work schedule for the next three to four weeks.
  • Maintains essential records and files, prepares and distributes reports.  
  • In the absence of key personnel the employee’s supervisor or qualified designee (one that has been trained in the key employee's duties) is responsible to complete or delegate the completion of all required tasks and responsibilities.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • 6 months of continuous work history within a manufacturing plant or in the food industry.
  • Basic mathematical skills required; addition and subtraction, multiplication and division.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to properly complete appropriate paperwork.
  • Working knowledge of basic computer skills, Internet, Word Processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Previous experience working with SAP is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of refrigeration is preferred.

  • Must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • The plant environment will include wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold and heat (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals.

  • Noise level in the work environment is usually loud when in the production area.
