Responsible for purchasing packaging, ingredients & operating supplies in accordance with established purchasing policies. Optimizes price, delivery, carrying costs, and terms.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities and tasks are written as follows:

  • Facilitates and manages projects which are related to all components, packaging, and services.
  • Regularly attends Marketing meetings and provides input on business strategy. 
  • Need to have the ability to make the proper business decisions to ensure operations are not adversely affected. 
  • Manages the day-to-day needs of a Product Line used at multiple facilities.
  • Controls and follow-up on the redundant and obsolete materials. 
  • Participate in brainstorming across various facilities.
  • As a member of the sourcing group will validate information needed, implementation of new suppliers, lead sourcing events as needed, and is an liaison between facilities and suppliers including following up on claims.  
  • Backup for Raw Material Buying, and publishes the daily reports. 
  • Main Gatekeeper of the Purchasing shared email box – SAP Gatekeeper for Ingredients and Packaging. Provide facility support for SAP, MRP, and Packaging inquiries.
  • Manage and build Playbooks to reflect items purchased.
  • Attend daily/weekly cross-functional meetings to assist Marketing/R&D in development and implementation of new products or product changes.
  • Facilitates weekly calls, publishes meeting recaps, and follow-ups as needed.
  • Monthly Inventory Reports: Prepare and analyze month-end inventory turns reporting to assist plants with continuous turn improvement.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university with emphasis in purchasing, materials management or agri-business and 3+ years’ experience in a materials-related function; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Capable of communicating and expressing ideas clearly and concisely, in both written and verbal formats.
  • Planning, organization, and execution skills.
  • Knowledge of ERP or MRP systems, and Business software.
  • C.P.M., A.P.P. or APICS certification preferred.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Travel estimated to be up 20%.
