Overview

This position supervises the shipping dock department’s daily needs and safely guides the crew to successfully meeting loading times to our sister plants and customers.

Responsibilities

1. Supervise the shipping crew and adhere to loading standards, times and efficiencies. Schedule the days/evenings work load and prioritize the shipments. Communicate with scheduling and corporate on the ever changing daily needs and requirements of the shipping operation.
2. Operate spotter tractor to move trailers in and out of docks at the plant.
3. Review all shipments prior to billing and execute all billing and invoicing functions. Goods issue shipments and prepare any reports, documents, explanations of any inventory adjustments, and distribute those reports to the accounting department.
4. Monitor labor costs and pallet costs to include Chep usage and inventories, monitor warehouse inventories and be able to adjust when necessary.
5. Monitor safety issues. Conduct safety inspections on a weekly basis. Monitor forklift checklist to ensure their safe operation. Monitor/conduct timely yard checks on trailer operation and fuel consumption.

 

 

Qualifications

  •  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • High school diploma or GED and four year’s related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Forklift, electric pallet jack and spotter tractor licenses required
  • Strong organization and good communication skills
  • Good time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Understanding of inventory processes and ability to navigate SAP, ADC and Intermec Janus scanning hardware
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and e-mail
  • Must be able to work long days and be on an on-call basis to include after hours, weekend and holiday availability
  • Good mechanical understanding and general knowledge of refrigeration units and trailer functions is a plus
  • Being bilingual is a plus

 

 

 

Physical Demands

  • This position is required to regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally more than 100 pounds.
  • This position is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, extreme cold and extreme heat, wet or humid conditions, and vibration. This position is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
  • This position is required to occasionally work in high, precarious places.
  • The noise level in the work environment is loud.
