    The Analyst will be responsible for all transportation, warehouse and inventory related transactions.

    Core Responsibilities

    • Prepare, review and distribute monthly financial reports for the transportation and warehousing division of Smithfield Foods
    • Determines cost of operations by establishing standard costs; collecting operational data.
    • Identifies financial status by comparing and analyzing actual results with plan and forecast.
    • Guides cost analysis process by establishing and enforcing policies and procedures; providing trends; explaining processes and techniques; recommending actions.
    • Recommends actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses; studying proposed changes in methods
    • Responsible for month-end, quarter-end and year-end close for assigned functional areas:
    • Protects operations by keeping financial information confidential
    • Assist in developing management reports through functional knowledge of the following systems: SAP BI, SAP BPC & SAP General Ledger
    • Prepare ad-hoc reports and potential assignment to special studies/teams to assist management in evaluating key opportunities for the company
    • Compliance with all Sarbanes-Oxley internal reporting requirements

    • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university in Accounting, Finance or Economics and 2+ years’ experience in reporting, consolidation and financial analysis; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Prior accounting/GAAP knowledge
    • Experience in CPG industry is a plus
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (emphasis on Excel & Access)
    • Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects as well as strong follow through skills
    • Ability to complete projects timely and accurately critical
    • Must be detail oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
    • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment
    • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment
