    In Operations, you would be on the front-line of the business; overseeing production, tracking product yields, and making necessary adjustments. Ensuring that safety and USDA health standards are met throughout all steps of the manufacturing process. You would be a key player in upholding the trusted quality in which Smithfield, Eckrich, Nathan’s Famous, and our other brands are known to possess. 

     

    The Unloader- Rotary House ensures bellies are unloaded and hung per tree as per proper count.  Make sure no bellies touch.  Make sure each tree is scaled and ticket with weight is hung on tree.  Load blast cooler according to schedule received in the morning.

    Core Responsibilities

    • Position empty trees in front of house.
    • Pull meat from bars, hang and properly space so no bellies touch.
    • Start and stop rotary house to position bars to doorway for unloading.
    • Push full trees to scale, scale and record weight on two - part ticket.
    • Push scaled trees into blast cooler and arrange as per scheduled pattern.
    • Using chemicals to clean and wash smokehouses.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor(s).

    • The plant environment will include wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold and heat (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals. Poor ventilation, smoke in air at times and slippery floors.
    • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when in the production area.
    • Must be able to lift bellies weighing up to 25 lbs.

    • Tools/Equipment: Pencil or pen, marking pen, tags, unloading card, unloading schedule, blast loading schedule, hairnet, gloves.
    • Safety Equipment: Chemical Personal Protective Equipment, safety helmet, safety shoes, hearing protection, eye protection, harness, lanyard.
    • Safety Training: Chemical training, Proper Lifting, Fall Protection, PPE
