    As a Sales Team member, your primary responsibility would be introducing and placing new products with customers, executing organizational initiatives, and driving sales on key items with strategic customers for long-term growth. Whether it is bacon, ham, fresh pork or another product category you will work directly with the customers and cross-functional with everyone from Business Management to our Plant Operations to deliver the service and products to our customers and consumers.

    The Director of Rendered Product Sales is responsible for identifying, developing and executing a strategy to obtain profitable results for the organization. Plans and directs efforts to maximize returns on rendered products by developing a strategic customer base, managing commodity risk within the portfolio, and aligning with operational capabilities. Prepares and develops AOP, sales forecasts, P&L results and negotiates customer contracts and pricing. Provides advisement to Senior Management on overall performance, effective ways to improve results, and maximize internal and external business relationships to achieve overall business plan objectives.

    Core Responsibilities

    • Defines, develops, implements and executes sales strategies to retain existing accounts, identify new customers, and new markets.
    • Supports the efforts of the Rendering group by meeting directly with existing customers with a focus on continued sales, customer support, and account relationships.
    • Responsible for position, and Inventory management to assure smooth operations at the Harvest plants.
    • Coordinates and supports strategy with internal sales channels, Hog Production and International groups.
    • Monitors raw material quality and any changes in trends that may affect merchandising.
    • Evaluates existing and future raw material market conditions and trends and sets appropriate strategy.
    • Works with Harvest operations to identify and support capital expenditures consistent with maintaining high quality manufacturing.

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field from a regionally accredited four-year college or university and 10+ years related experience, specifically in the rendering industry including; buying, trading, or selling rendered products and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Minimum of 5+ years' experience in a position of leadership to include team development and management, required.
    • Must have the ability to articulate products, services, and business process to facilitate business transactions.
    • Must have the ability to negotiate business deals that maximize sales strategies and plans to achieve volume and net marketing margin goals.
    • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
    • High level of organization planning, teamwork, analytical reasoning, adaptability, and leadership skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Demonstrated proficiency utilizing Microsoft Windows and Office applications and program.
    • This position may require up to 50% travel.
    • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
    • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
    • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and assisting in providing appropriate resolutions.
