    As part of our Engineering team, you would analyze data, draft implementation plans for production process optimization. Seeking out ways to maximize efficiencies by eliminating the waste of valuable resources that directly impact our overall operating costs. You are instrumental to the manufacturing of Smithfield, Eckrich, Nathan’s Famous, and our other product brands, to meet the needs of our customers and consumers.


    The Manager of Supply Chain Engineering is responsible for supporting the Supply Chain organization from an Engineering perspective. The priorities for this position include business partnerships, strategic planning, problem resolution, project management, maintenance of the facilities in good order, and the improvement of supply chain performance.


    Responsibilities and tasks are written as follows:

    • Work with the Supply Chain organization to define business requirements and identify areas for Engineering support and integration.
    • Demonstrate a high level of subject matter expertise in functional area to bridge business requirements and Engineering solutions.
    • Understand industry trends and best practices in the business that can be applied to system designs and process improvements.
    • Provide technical direction and ensure compliance with best practice solutions.
    • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration (Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, etc.) for review of requirements.
    • Ensure the supply chain infrastructure is well maintained and fit for needs of the business.
    • Coordinate closely with Supply Chain to ensure all necessary inspections on racking, building, HVAC, etc are conducted.
    • Coordinate closely with Supply Chain management to develop the right talent to ensure a robust pipeline of talent to support the long term needs of Supply Chain.
    • Coordinate closely with the Supply Chain management for the development of the capital budget including conceptual studies, master planning, and replacement strategies.
    • Administrator the annual capital expenditure ensuring the proper execution of projects meeting scope, schedule and budget as directed by Supply Chain management.

    • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in Engineering, Business or related field and 5+ years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
    • Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in a position of leadership to include team development and management, required.
    • Knowledge of different pork products and the Meat Industry as well as logistics and physical warehouse construction and maintenance, preferred.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word, and SAP.
    • Ability to take broader roles.
    • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
    • Capable of communicating and expressing ideas clearly and concisely, in both written and oral formats.
    • High level of written and oral communication skills, organizational planning, teamwork, analytical reasoning, and adaptability.
    • Ability to communicate technical ideas to a non-technical audience effectively.
    • Strong interpersonal, technical and presentation skills, required.
    • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
    • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
    • Must be able to travel 50% of the time.
